An Adjustable or Electric Adjustable Bed Make Spinal Stenosis More Comfortable
Adjustable and Electric Adjustable Beds can make Spinal Stenosis easier to live with.
Spinal stenosis is a narrowing of the nerve openings either around the spinal cord or nerve roots that can cause symptoms similar to a pinched nerve; pain is described either as an aching or an electrical feeling down the arm. When present, symptoms may include pain or numbness in the back and/or legs, or cramping in the legs. Weakness in the legs may occur.
The discs become less spongy and less fluid filled with age. This can result in reduced disc height and bulging of the hardened disc into the spinal canal. The bones and ligaments of the spinal facet joints can thicken and enlarge, due to arthritis, also pushing into the spinal canal. These changes cause narrowing of the lumbar spinal canal which is known as spinal stenosis.
One type of spinal stenosis, cauda equine syndrome, is very serious. This type occurs when there is pressure on nerves in the lower back.
People with Spinal Stenosis often feel more comfortable when bending in a forward position opposed to a straight position. An adjustable or electric adjustable bed will allow for the bed to be adjusted in a way that is beneficial to someone with this condition.
An adjustable or electric adjustable bed would be advantages to those with spinal stenosis to help relieve the pain while in bed. Actually, an adjustable or electric adjustable bed is perfect for anyone who wants to get a better night’s sleep.
